Archaeology Zone: Discovering Treasures From Playgrounds to Palaces
The Jewish Museum (1109 5th Ave at 92nd St, Manhattan). 11 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., except for Thursdays, open until 8 p.m., and Fridays, open until 4 p.m. Free with admission: $12 for adults; $10 for 65+; $7.50 for students; free for under 12 and members. This hands-on exhibit encourages kids to explore the world of archaeology through art and artifacts. They will discover unusual objects that have been unearthed and determine how and why they were made.

Sony Wonder Technology Lab
(550 Madison Ave, Manhattan). Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm & Sunday, 12 pm- 5 pm. Free with reservations, call in advance at (212) 833-8100. This state of the art technology center and museum will be an enjoyable experience with interactive entertainment such as building their own video game, learn about basic animation, and perform virtual surgery.

Penny Jones & Co. Puppets
Westbeth Community Room (155 Bank Street, Manhattan). Sundays, 11 am & 1 pm. $5 at the door. This group has been a mainstay of children's theater in New York since the 1970's. They present informal puppet shows for children aged three to eight, and puppet ballets with live music for audiences of adults and children. The company performs in conjunction with chamber ensembles and orchestras.

Fire Simulation Presentation
FDNY Fire Zone at Rockefeller Center (34 W. 51st Street, Manhattan, www.fdnyfirezone.org). Monday - Saturday: 9:30 am - 5:30 pm; Sunday: 11:30 am - 3:30 pm, $6 per person, $2 seniors. The fire-safety learning program of the FDNY teaches kids not to be scared, but rather how to be smart and lead themselves to safety with real-life simulations.
