Unions and their members provide assistance for Haiti
The union movement throughout the U.S. has made a strong effort to provide relief to Haiti in the wake of the catastrophic earthquake that struck there last week. Unions and their members have not only combined to contribute millions of dollars to the relief efforts, they have provided invaluable goods and services.

Hilton workers in Puerto Rico ratify contracts by 97 percent
The new union contracts were ratified at the Caribe Hilton, the Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza, and the El San Juan Hotel and Casino in Puerto Rico, on Saturday, January 30, 2010, by a combined majority of 97.28 percent. Local 610 President Felix Mejías commented on the overwhelming majority for ratification: "This is obviously a proud and happy day for the membership of our union."
